How it All Started
My musical journey started with my Magnavox transistor radio, when I was 13 in the 7th grade.
Born in Fort Worth, Texas. Some good song writers have come from Texas.
I was attending Monnig Jr High. Earlier in the year they had come over the loudspeaker at school announcing that The President had been shot. Everyone knows where they were and what they were doing when that went down.
Later within a year something else major happened.
The Beatles. It was like overnight, that first show on Ed Sullivan. I missed the first show, but I caught the second. It looked like they were having so much fun, which I believe they were. I was bitten and my family were players and singers. The game was on. I began making up my own songs immediately and have never stopped. I have an ear for a melody and rhythm. After my musical awakening, great music was coming from all directions.
It was all coming from my Magnavox transistor radio, my late-night companion and our local Radio Stations.
I remember KRLD in Dallas.
In Fort Worth we had KXOL with its rich history, T Boone Burnett, Sound City Recording. Recording of Heh Hey Baby I want to know, if you'll be my girl.
My favorite station
KFJZ and Mark Stevens who called himself Markee Baby. lol What a riot
Hence the name
Jim Watts and Rock & Roll Station

Vintage Melodies & Real Life
It was and is, never my intent to copy someone else's work, I don't see the point of it. Copying is quite different from absorbing all the music in the air around you, shuffling it like an internal deck of cards and then dealing out something refreshingly new. Now that is fun and exciting. Another factor is my songs are motivated from the heart. At the core there is an element of truth about myself, someone I love, something that has happened to someone I care about or the world we all share. The song comes from the subconscious mind. Melody and the first lines of verse further defines the feeling. At this point sometimes, I don't know exactly what I'm feeling or trying to express. I have to ask myself consciously, What Is Going On? What Is This? Sometimes It's all in fun, " Love Don't Change a Thing" Sometimes It's not. "They Never Leave" Once the initial Inspiration has done its work, now you will need the skill set of a songwriter. Inspiration has led you on an enjoyable journey but flushing out the rest of the song can be both exhilarating and Hard Work Some songs flow completely, in a few hours. Some have taken years, as living life and life's experiences added a verse at a time.
Soulful Beats & Captivating Rhythms
Soulful Beats & Rhythms grab us first. Making us want to hear our song again and again, can't quite get enough .Some studios and artist will pay for new beats alone. Fresh Beat or Rythm is vital to creating something new. Artist feels they can write a new sounding song around that new beat. Great Lyrics can move the heart and the mind together. Powerful.
