Nice to Meet You.

Music has been one of my Lifelong Passions

Hi, I'm Jim Watts.

Spent my early teenage years listening into the night, when I was supposed to be asleep, listening on my Magnavox transistor radio. What I was listening to, was the real story. The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Beach Boys, Ronettes, Roy Orbison, Sam Cooke, Stones, Don Gibson, DC5, Bob Dillion, PPM - on and on. It was an amazing time to be alive musically. Anything that could make you feel so alive, I had to learn.

When Disco showed up, I went back and picked up the artist that had inspired my favorites. That led me to Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins, Bill Haley, Everly Brothers, Buddy Holley, Del Shannon, Hank Williams etc...  I like anything that's good. Currently Noel Gallager and Oasis.

First song ever for me, besides row row row your boat was You ain't nothin but a hound dog. I didn't know who Elvis was, but I knew that song. I've written one called You're My Star and I've worked the hound dog back into my song, even named him Roudy. It's a rockin, fun little number.

I come from a musical family. My Dad plays guitar, mandolin and sings, Grandfather harmonica, Mother's a singer, and my brother is a singer, has an ear for harmony, second to none. Music was natural, I was born with a love for it. I'm grateful for the talent, it's a gift. We all have different talents we are given. However, I must say, I did put in the work.

Recognized right away, that one of the things that made my personal favorites so amazing is they created their own songs, that was for me. I loved performing but nothing compared to stumbling on a great melody and the verse to go with it. I say stumbling not because I was not working at it but because none of us exactly understands the process. We know how to start but not sure how a song exactly happens. It's the same feeling when you hear a great melody for the first time, except the thrill or sadness, lasts a lot longer. When it's your song, it starts with a thread and has to be worked out.

It's something special when your music connects with others. You hear, the music is REAL. That expression it's real, is the greatest compliment to a songwriter. There are more important things in life than music, but music certainly touches our hearts.
